A Local Charity Supporting Local People
About Age UK Wigan Borough
Age UK Wigan Borough is a local, independent charity working to improve the lives of older people across Wigan and Leigh. We’re here to help people age well, stay independent, and feel connected to their communities. Every day, our teams and volunteers provide practical support, trusted advice, and opportunities for older people to stay active, informed, and socially included. Our services include Information & Advice, helping people access the benefits and support they’re entitled to; Support at Home services such as Home Help and Handyperson; social activities and groups that tackle loneliness; digital support to build confidence online; and community-based projects that promote health, wellbeing, and independence. Last year alone, we helped secure over £1.2 million in unclaimed benefits for older people, supported thousands of local residents, and worked alongside partners in health, social care, and the voluntary sector to reach those most at risk of isolation and poverty. We believe later life should be lived with dignity, choice, and purpose. That belief drives everything we do, from frontline services to community partnerships and advocacy. If you want to support our work, volunteer, become a trustee, or partner with us, we’d love to hear from you. 👉 www.ageuk.org.uk/wiganborough 📞 01942 615880 Together, we’re making Wigan Borough a better place to grow older.
