Ampthill vs Cancer 5K is a community-driven charity event created to unite people in solidarity, remembrance, and hope, while raising vital funds for those affected by cancer. Launched in 2025 by a group of local organisers personally impacted by cancer, the initiative began with a simple goal: to bring the community together and make a meaningful difference. What followed exceeded all expectations. Nearly 1,000 runners and walkers filled Ampthill Park for the inaugural event, raising over £25,000 for Willen Hospice, Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT), and the Primrose Car Service. Powered entirely by volunteers, local sponsors, and residents, the day became a powerful symbol of compassion, resilience, and community spirit. Due to overwhelming support, Ampthill vs Cancer 5K will return on Sunday 28 June 2026 with an expanded vision and continued commitment to making a real impact. The 2026 event will proudly support MOVE Against Cancer and Keech Hospice, two incredible organisations providing vital care, support, and hope to individuals and families affected by cancer and life-limiting illnesses across the region. Alongside supporting these charities, a portion of funds raised will help establish a community fund to provide practical and emotional support to local people impacted by cancer. The initiative also aims to contribute toward screening programmes designed to help prevent late diagnoses in the future. Transparency, inclusivity, and community impact remain at the heart of everything we do. Every pound raised goes directly to supporting those in need, with regular updates shared on how funds are used. Ampthill vs Cancer is more than a 5k run - it’s a movement built by the community, for the community, ensuring no one faces cancer alone. Together, we run, walk, remember, support, and create lasting change.
