About Anthropocene Institute
Electricity demand is rising for the first time in a generation. AI data centers, electrification, and reshored industry are colliding with a grid that takes a decade to permit a transmission line. The question is no longer whether we need more clean energy — it’s whether we can build it fast enough, reliably enough, and cheaply enough for everyone. Anthropocene Institute researches how. We are scientists, engineers, economists, and communicators studying the full energy system: grid reliability, electricity markets, infrastructure deployment, AI-driven demand, and the economics of clean firm power — including nuclear energy, advanced reactors, and next-generation technologies like enhanced geothermal and fusion. Our work reaches the people who decide what gets built: policymakers, regulators, utilities, investors, and the engaged public. We publish original data analysis, convene experts across the energy transition, and make the case that climate progress and human prosperity are the same project. That is what we mean by climate repair: not managing decline, but maintaining and rebuilding the systems a thriving planet runs on. The world doesn’t need less energy. It needs abundant, affordable, clean energy — and a maintenance crew for Earth willing to build it.
