Antonie was founded in October 2021 by Bob Klein Lankhorst, Peter den Hartog, and Jerome H. Mol, uniting expertise in soil biology, AI & data science, and business scaling. Our shared vision: revealing the hidden life in soil to unlock its power for a healthier planet. By focusing on nematodes—nature’s best indicators of biodiversity and ecosystem function—and taking a holistic approach to land and crop management, Antonie develops advanced tools to transform agriculture and land stewardship. As telescopes revealed the universe above, we are opening a new window into the universe below our feet. Our name pays tribute to Antonie van Leeuwenhoek, the 17th-century Dutch pioneer who first described nematodes with his self-built microscope. His spirit of curiosity and precision shapes our mission today.
