Apersys AG builds advanced perfusion systems that keep human organs alive - and treatable - for days rather than hours. Our platform is designed for up to seven days of ex-situ preservation, opening a therapeutic window in which injured or discarded grafts can be actively rehabilitated: defatting, metabolic support, targeted intervention. Multi-day duration is only clinically viable because the system is automation-first, built to run largely unattended on a medical-grade software stack. The science is published. In 2022, Nature Biotechnology reported the first human liver transplant performed after three days of ex-situ perfusion, using our technology (Clavien et al.). More than 60 discarded human livers have been perfused in our research programme to date; pre-clinical work extends to hearts, kidneys, and uterus. Apersys is a Swiss spin-out from the Liver4Life project at Wyss Zurich, backed by ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich. Our team of surgeons, biologists, engineers, and operators is building toward CE marking and a US Early Feasibility Study. Innovating Transplantation, Accelerating Research.
