About Aquanta Vision

COMPANY: Aquanta Vision is a 3-person industrial computer vision software startup focused on making finding methane leaks very easy in optical gas imaging (OGI). Our apps are in use in the real world and we are in revenue. INVESTORS. Chevron Technology Ventures, Ecosphere Ventures, Odyssey Energy Advisors, Marathon Petroleum Corp., and EIC Rose Rock. We are a recipient of grants and awards from NSF Ascend and NREL of US DOE. PROBLEM: Methane leaks evade detection at 60% of inspections conducted with OGI cameras. Finding leaks gets harder when one or more of the following is in play: things in field of view move, field of view has metal surfaces, camera dwell times are short, camera moves, viewing angle not optimal, and less experienced camera operator. SOLUTION: Our product, a tiny app, automates detection, increases detection speed and accuracy, and supports alerting. Based on over 14,000 test runs and 7 O&G industry field trials, its use easily reduces the above problem by 50%. AGNOSTIC: Our app is agnostic to camera operator’s level of experience, camera mount (handheld, drone mounted, fixed mounted, etc.,), camera type (cooled, uncooled, thermal), and camera location of use (i.e. upstream, midstream, or downstream). GAS TYPE: In addition to Methane, if the camera can image, other gasses such as ammonia and CO2, etc., can be detected by our app. TECHNOLOGY: Developed by us while at school at Colorado State University (CSU) and CSU METEC, our tech is a patented signal processing algorithm that finds gas signal by using the temperature value stored in pixels in OGI video frames. ACCELERATORS: Aquanta Vision is in Chevron Studio program. We graduated from Shell GameChanger, Rose Rock Bridge, and Innosphere.
