About archipelago architects
Our mission The interplay between research and practice is at the core of our organisation. This allows us to build and share knowledge, combine experience with innovation, and realize positive impact in a rapidly changing world. In each project, we therefore commit to a research-driven approach, as a collective effort, from beginning to end. Our approach We apply research to design. A dedicated team of around 15 collaborators brings scientific knowledge from the fields of sustainability, wellbeing and digital technology into the projects, to anticipate impact and validate design choices. The research-driven approach is developed by three interrelated research circles: Research & Architecture – a continuous evaluation of design knowledge, from process to visualization and materials, to maintain a high level of architectural design. Research & Innovation – a wide range of in-house knowledge, frameworks and digital tools to support an integrated vision on sustainable architecture. Research & Development – highly professional workflows, ISO certified, aided by a dedicated team of in-house experts in the fields of BIM, AI processes, specs and internal databases. The R&AID support base brings a drive to the design ateliers to develop strong spatial concepts with a long-term vision. Starting from a deep understanding of people and planet, and with extensive experience in realizing complex projects, we continue to explore in each design process the potential to create real-life positive impact. Our organisation As a caring organisation, we want to foster the capacities of each collaborator. We are organised along the principles of collaborative governance: each collaborator has a direct line with the directors of the office. In this way, we promote an open dialogue and keep a close connection between collaborators and the organisation as a whole.
