Arete was built for independent outpatient practices navigating a healthcare system that has become increasingly complex, consolidated, and difficult for smaller organizations to navigate. For too long, the only apparent options for high-value outpatient practices have been to operate alone while absorbing growing financial and administrative pressure — or join a private equity-backed organization and give up clinical control. We believe there should be another path. Arete was designed so that the interests of the platform and the interests of its practices are the same. Participating practices have governance rights and a voice in how the network evolves — because the people closest to patients should have the most say in how care is supported. Our goal is to build a system that can become self-sustaining and self-governing — with leadership increasingly reflecting the clinicians and practices that make up the network. We believe independent outpatient practices remain one of the most important parts of the American healthcare system.
