Atlanta Metropolitan Symphony (formerly Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra) is dedicated to connecting and engaging the greater Atlanta community through the transformative power of music while providing meaningful service opportunities for its volunteer musicians. Through innovative programming, educational initiatives, community partnerships, and free concerts, the Symphony creates shared experiences that bring people together and foster meaningful connections across metro Atlanta. Founded in 1958, Atlanta Metropolitan Symphony comprises more than 60 musicians who share a passion for enriching their communities through live orchestral music. Many members also perform with other musical organizations, teach music, and contribute their talents throughout the region, reflecting a deep commitment to artistic excellence and lifelong learning. Over 68 seasons, the Symphony has presented free concerts throughout metro Atlanta and partnered with numerous nonprofit organizations to highlight community causes, services, and opportunities for engagement. Led by Artistic Director Robert Trocina, Atlanta Metropolitan Symphony performs at venues across the region, making high-quality orchestral music accessible to diverse audiences. In addition to its orchestral performances, the Symphony presents chamber music programs, educational initiatives such as Art in Music, the Ruth Kern Young Artists Competition that provides young musicians the opportunity to perform as soloists with a full symphony orchestra, and collaborative programs that strengthen connections between the arts and the communities they serve. Atlanta Metropolitan Symphony believes that music has the power not only to inspire, but also to bring people together, strengthen communities, and create lasting connections through shared experiences.
