Baby Lifeline
Safe maternity care for every mum, birthing person, and baby
About Baby Lifeline
Baby Lifeline is a unique and leading mother and baby charity, which strives to ensure the healthiest outcome possible from pregnancy and birth. It does this in three distinct ways: 1) It supports and funds the provision of maternity and neonatal equipment in hospitals and in the community. 2) Together with leading experts, it develops and delivers continuing professional development (CPD) training, the content of built around evidence-based findings and published reports. 3) It publishes its own associated and relevant research. The charity’s work is predominantly focussed within the UK, but it also provides support to health professionals in many other countries Driven by the personal loss of three premature babies, the charity's chief executive, Judy Ledger, formed Baby Lifeline in 1981. With her first-hand experience of the tragedy of baby loss, and insight into the support needed to improve safe care in maternity services, she set out to raise funds for just one incubator for Coventry’s Neonatal Unit. Four decades later, Baby Lifeline has raised millions of pounds to support its work, which includes training around 4,000 health professionals each year.
