About Big Brothers Big Sisters of South-Central PA
Our Mission: To provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community we are accountable for each child in our program achieving: - Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships - Avoidance of risky behaviors - Educational success The Need: Thousands of children throughout Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York Counties face adversity that threatens their ability to fulfill their potential. Mentoring Programs: Our proven mentoring approach - which involves recruiting, screening, interviewing, training, matching, supporting, evaluating - is a top model for improving children's lives and futures. - Community-Based Mentoring - Volunteer mentors and their mentees meet on the weekends or after school to form a friendship. - Site-Based Mentoring - Volunteer mentors and their mentees meet at the child's school or the Carlisle or Lebanon YMCAs.
