University of Cambridge Better Futures Programme
Empowering accomplished leaders to create lasting, purposeful change for a better future
About University of Cambridge Better Futures Programme
The Centre for Better Futures,centreforbetterfutures.org, based at Downing College, University of Cambridge, exists to help accomplished individuals shape the next chapter of their lives around purpose and impact. Participants spend an academic year (or six months) immersed in the University and wider Cambridge ecosystem — with college membership, a dedicated academic host, thematic dinners, and a personalised curriculum. The Programme provides the structure, space, and a powerful peer community that enables participants to articulate their vision and prepare to put it into action. Leaders move through three phases: 1 - Foundations – developing self-awareness, wellbeing, and clarity of purpose. 2 - Frontiers – engaging with Cambridge scholars and thought leaders to explore societal challenges such as climate change, inequality, and technological disruption. 3 - Wayfinding – crafting a 10-year “impact pathway” supported by mentoring, peer collaboration, and exposure to Cambridge’s global network. Co-founded by academics, entrepreneurs, and policy leaders, and delivered in partnership with the University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education, the Centre combines Cambridge’s intellectual capital with a commitment to real-world change.
