Boardman, Hawkins & Osborne LLP (BH&O LLP) is a niche family practice offering legal advice, representation and mediation. The firm was opened on 3 September 2018 by Emily Boardman, Ruth Hawkins and Irena Osborne. We are a specialist family law firm based in Abingdon, South Oxfordshire, with a national practice and reputation for excellence. We have a strong commitment to supporting individuals in some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives: divorce and separation; disputes over children; involvement with social services and domestic abuse. We also offer specialist advice in other areas such as surrogacy, adoption, and pre nuptial agreements. As individuals Emily and Ruth are both listed as notable practitioners in Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500. Emily specializes particularly in representing parents in litigation brought by a local authority as a result of allegations of serious injury, sexual abuse or death. She also has a private adoption practice. Ruth is our mediator and also represents children and extended family members in care proceedings and linked matters such as wardship. She has been qualified for almost 25 years and has been a member of the Law Society Children Panel for much of that time. She is particularly specialist at representing older children and teenagers. Irena’s particular interest is in international family law and care proceedings with an international element. She is the only Slovene speaking care lawyer in the UK.
