Video games are much more than a passive leisure activity. They are a unique and complex form of communication that supersedes the bounds of culture and language. Game development requires the synthesis of logic and creativity, is the practical application of all academic subjects, and is a holistic sort of art form that encompasses every other. Oh, and it is also very fun! This is the founding principle of Bitmask Games. What separates this studio from other institutions teaching game development, though, is that at Bitmask Games, we teach development for legacy consoles from the history of games - beyond the continued affinity for retro aesthetic, there are reasons for this. Students learn how the code they write interfaces with hardware at the bit level, and learn to turn limitations into fuel for creativity.
