About Boards of Hope

Boards of Hope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Michael Casalino, a 27-year veteran of the video game industry and a lifelong advocate for children of all abilities. With a passion for creativity and community, Michael has spent over a decade volunteering with organizations like aSkate and Surfers Healing, helping children with autism build confidence through skateboarding and surfing. Boards of Hope continues that mission by empowering kids of all abilities through the transformative power of skateboarding. We believe every child deserves the chance to develop confidence, resilience, and community—regardless of their physical, emotional, or cognitive challenges. Through inclusive events, mentorship programs, hands-on workshops, and community outreach, Boards of Hope creates safe and welcoming environments where kids can thrive both on and off the board. Our programs foster personal growth, teamwork, and creative expression while promoting physical and emotional well-being. Whether it’s a child taking their first ride or a seasoned skater mentoring a new friend, each moment on a skateboard is a chance to move forward. Our mission is rooted in breaking barriers, building belonging, and inspiring hope—one push at a time.
