The Institute of Chemistry of Renewable Resources (ChNR) at the BOKU University, focuses on the chemistry and valorization of biomass - turning nature’s renewable materials into sustainable solutions for the future. Our interdisciplinary research spans the full value chain of bio-based materials: from fundamental studies on cellulose, lignin, and hemicelluloses to the development of innovative applications such as green polymers, functional surfaces, and biorefinery concepts. We combine advanced chemical analytics with materials science, contributing to circular economy strategies and carbon-neutral technologies.
