Buchan Offshore Wind is at forefront of the industrialisation of floating offshore wind in Scotland.   Acting as a pathfinder for commercial-scale floating offshore wind our pioneering project contributes to economic security by harnessing Scotland’s existing engineering and supply chain expertise. Paving the way for the manufacture of Scotland’s first concrete floating foundations, using project partner BW Ideol’s proven Damping Pool® technology, we are anchoring a new industrial capability and acting as a catalyst for the Scottish floating offshore wind supply chain. Our near 1GW wind farm will generate enough secure and stable home-grown energy to power more than one million homes, contributing significantly to the UK’s long term energy security. Located 75km north-east of Fraserburgh and connecting to the electricity grid at Peterhead our transformative wind farm is projected to support 2,900 Scottish jobs during construction and deliver more than £900m to the Scottish economy and more than £2bn in lifetime economic value.   BW Ideol has an exclusivity agreement in place with the Ardersier Energy Transition Facility on the Moray Firth and is working actively on establishing a new manufacturing facility for the serial production of floating concrete foundations at the former oil and gas fabrication yard. Buchan Offshore Wind is a joint venture between BayWa r.e., BW Ideol and Elicio, three leading European energy businesses which bring highly relevant and complementary capability and expertise to the development of the project. We have an ambitious but deliverable timetable giving government, investors and the supply chain a clear line of sight to construction by the end of the decade, supporting the clean‑power ambitions of both the UK and Scottish governments, and ensuring that Scotland leads the world in developing and delivering floating offshore wind.
