The Centre Hospitalier International de Calavi (CHIC) is a university hospital in Benin designed to deliver high-level specialized care and significantly reduce medical evacuations. Its progressive opening began in June 2025, with several clinical and technical services already operational. With a capacity of 434 beds, CHIC is structured around eight major adult medical and surgical departments, covering locomotor and neurosurgery, cardiovascular and thoracic care, metabolic and cardiology services, oncology, hepato-digestive medicine and surgery, nephrology, urology, and head-and-neck/ENT specialties. The hospital features a state-of-the-art technical platform including comprehensive medical imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, mammography), nuclear medicine (SPECT-CT, PET-scan, and a cyclotron), radiotherapy and brachytherapy, nine operating theatres, a full medical biology laboratory, a pathology laboratory, and an emergency department.
