About Chicano Federation of San Diego County
Founded in 1969 during the Chicano Civil Rights Movement, Chicano Federation has spent more than five decades creating opportunities, advocating for our communities, and responding to the evolving needs of families across San Diego County. Our mission is to cultivate opportunities and advocate for families and individuals for a more equitable comunidad. Today, Chicano Federation supports children, families, entrepreneurs, emerging leaders, and community members through an interconnected network of programs spanning early childhood education, child nutrition, affordable housing, workforce and small business development, leadership development, community resources, advocacy, and more. In 2025 alone, we reached more than 50,000 people, served over 3 million free meals to children, supported 10,000 children through education and development programs, provided affordable housing to more than 500 residents, and assisted more than 300 small businesses. Our work continues to grow alongside our comunidad. From the return of our Leadership Training Institute to expanded resources and programming at Barrio Station, we are building on more than 57 years of history while creating new ways for people to access support, build stability, develop as leaders, and help shape the future of their communities. We believe lasting change happens when comunidad has the resources, opportunities, and voice to move forward together.
