Supported digital companionship for older people experiencing loneliness
About Comfort Companions CIC
Comfort Companions CIC is a Portishead-based not-for-profit developing supported digital companionship for older people experiencing loneliness. Our Comfort Companions are friendly, voice-led digital companions designed to offer calm conversation, reassurance and a sense of being heard when someone wants to talk and no one else is available. The service is built around supported access, not an unsupported app download. Comfort Companions are introduced through trusted routes, with onboarding, consent, follow-up and human support around the older person. We use AI carefully and responsibly. People's private conversations and data should not be treated as a revenue stream, and vulnerability should never be exploited for financial gain. Comfort Companions sit alongside family, friends, carers, volunteers and local services. They are not a replacement for human relationships, clinical care, crisis support or emergency services. Our mission is to make sure older people are not left unheard when they need conversation and reassurance.
