DBG — Driven by Growth — is a Detroit youth development organization on a mission to make sure a young person's potential, not their circumstances, determines their life outcomes. Since 2007, DBG has provided Detroit students ages 8–18, with continued support through age 25, individualized mentorship, academic support, daily meals and free transportation. The result: a 100% high school graduation rate every year since inception, tracked through a 13-year research partnership with the University of Iowa. In 2024, DBG Buffalo became the first program to license our model, the beginning of a plan that proves this approach scales beyond Detroit. DBG has been recognized nationally by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Library of Congress. Led by Founder and CEO Khali Sweeney and Executive Director Jessica Hauser, DBG maintains an active alumni network, with students who return as staff, mentors and board members. 90% of DBG students pursue STEAM education or career paths, a lifetime return on investing in a young person. DBG has served 1,500+ students and is backed by partners including Ford, JPMorgan Chase, Comcast NBC Universal, Salesforce, Nike Community Impact Fund and the Kresge Foundation.
