About Defense Domain
Defense Domain is an independent European defence and security think tank focused on the execution layer of defence strategy. Based in Brussels, it examines how the European Union translates strategic intent into operational capability under real constraints such as industrial capacity, technology maturity, data governance, and institutional delivery. The think tank concentrates on capability areas that directly shape Europe’s ability to protect itself, including autonomous and semi-autonomous systems, counter-UAS architectures, integrated air and missile defence enablers, C4ISR, and data-centric security. Its analysis addresses how these technologies are adopted, governed, integrated, and scaled within EU defence structures rather than treated as isolated innovations. Defense Domain places the transformation of the EU at the centre of its work, analysing how Europe can move from a declaratory security actor to a credible defence provider able to deter, defend, and sustain operations against state and non-state threats. NATO is treated as an essential interoperability and operational framework, not a substitute for European responsibility or capability ownership. The think tank operates as the strategic research and policy innovation arm of World Veterans, with delegated authority over its research agenda and publications. It functions with full analytical autonomy under governance safeguards designed to protect intellectual independence and methodological rigor. Defense Domain exists to test feasibility, expose implementation gaps, and convert European defence ambition into deliverable outcomes that strengthen Europe’s capacity to protect itself.
