About Digital Inclusion Alliance

For most people, everyday tasks like applying for jobs, accessing healthcare, managing money and staying connected now depend on digital systems but those systems don’t work equally well for everyone. Across Scotland, a huge amount of work is already underway to address digital exclusion. Organisations in the public, private and third sectors are supporting people, improving services and building understanding every day. With so much activity happening across different priorities, funding streams and ways of working, it can be difficult to maintain a clear, shared picture. As a result, good work does not always connect as effectively as it could. Gaps and duplication still occur, and people continue to face barriers when trying to access the services they need. The Digital Inclusion Alliance exists to address this. We work across the system to connect organisations, insight and activity around the shared challenge of digital participation. This means strengthening links between existing work, building a clearer picture of where barriers persist, and supporting organisations to align their efforts where it will have the greatest impact. We do not deliver frontline services, and we are not here to replace what already exists. Our focus is long-term change. We look beyond immediate fixes to understand the underlying causes of digital exclusion - including how services are designed, how systems interact and how decisions are made. The long-term ambition is a Scotland where people are able to participate in society, access opportunities and engage with the services and connections that matter to them - in ways that reflect their needs, circumstances and choice.
