About Down Home

Down Home empowers lives and stabilizes those emerging from homelessness by furnishing homes, strengthening connections, and transforming communities. We serve families and individuals who are transitioning from homelessness into permanent housing by partnering with local community agencies to identify those who qualify for our services. Once approved, we work closely with both the referral agency and the client to prepare for move-in day. As a 100% donor-funded nonprofit, our mission is made possible by the generosity and involvement of our community. Using gently used donations of furniture and décor from our community, Down Home transforms empty spaces into personalized, fully furnished homes - designed to provide comfort, stability, and a renewed sense of dignity. We invite individuals, families, businesses, and groups to be part of the experience through move-in sponsorships, volunteer opportunities, and ongoing support. Down Home breaks the cycle of homelessness through a pioneering service model that combines home furnishing with transformative empowerment. Our two signature offerings - the flagship Traditional Program and the education-based Empower Up Program - fill critical gaps in stabilization and support long-term success for the families we serve. Down Home envisions a community where everyone lives in a supported, stable, and nurturing home.
