About Emerson School

For more than 50 years, Emerson School has been a trusted independent school in Ann Arbor, Michigan, serving students from Young Fives through 8th grade. We are known for providing a dynamic, student-centered education that challenges bright, curious learners while nurturing the whole child. Emerson’s Y5–8 model is intentional. It allows students to grow within a cohesive, supportive community during their most formative years, developing strong academic foundations, meaningful relationships, and a deep sense of belonging. Our small class sizes and dedicated faculty ensure that every student is known, supported, and appropriately challenged. At Emerson, learning extends well beyond the classroom. Students engage in a rich program that includes fine arts, athletics, world languages, STEM, robotics, outdoor learning, and service experiences that cultivate empathy, integrity, and responsibility.
