The IP Office of the EU. Protecting trade marks, designs and geographical indications for craft and industrial products.
About EUIPO - European Union Intellectual Property Office
The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) is the European Union Agency responsible for the registration of the European Union trade mark (EUTM), the European Union design (EUD) and Geographical Indications for craft and industrial products (CIGIs), unitary intellectual property rights valid across the EU-27. EUIPO also hosts the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights, which carries out activities related to research, communication, the sharing of best practices and the enforcement of intellectual property rights. In addition, EUIPO maintains and manages a single publicly accessible online database of orphan works. Together with its national and regional EU IP office partners, EUIPO works to provide common IT tools and databases, including search and classification tools, electronic services for users, examination and processing software, and enforcement tools. Through the EUIPO Academy, the Office offers webinars, learning materials and specialised courses. EUIPO is responsible for geographical indications protecting craft and industrial products. These include products made wholly or partly by hand, or with manual, digital or mechanical tools where manual input is a key component, as well as standardised industrial products. Examples include natural stones, woodwork, jewellery, textiles, lace, cutlery, glass and porcelain. To qualify, products must originate in a specific place, region or country, have qualities or a reputation linked to that origin, and include at least one production step in the defined area. EUIPO has been based in Alicante, Spain, since its foundation in 1994. This is the official LinkedIn page of the EUIPO, administered and moderated by the EUIPO Communication team. Here we share information about the Office and its activities, as well as content on trade marks, designs, geographical indications and other intellectual property rights. This page does not provide legal or professional advice.
