The Florida Charter Institute (FCI) is the state's leading organization dedicated to charter school excellence, with a focus on enhancing academic achievement and student success. FCI provides the following services: Support: Through the Charter Support Unit (CSU), FCI offers essential resources and customized advice to charter leaders and governing boards, helping schools navigate challenges and achieve their goals. CSU has been a trusted partner to Florida's charter schools since 2012. Educate: The “Teaching, Learning, and Leadership” division elevates educational practices within charter schools, providing targeted training and leadership development to foster effective teaching and learning environments. Authorize: FCI plays a crucial role in facilitating high-quality educational options for students in Miami-Dade County through its authorizing practices, ensuring that charter schools meet rigorous standards and deliver exceptional education. Research: Our research division explores and promotes best practices in all aspects of charter life: authorizing and renewal, teaching and leading, and operational support. We actively collaborate with various organizations to define and disseminate effective strategies, analyze Florida’s Principles & Standards for Quality Charter School Authorizing, and address training needs for authorizers across the state. FCI works closely with the Florida Department of Education and national organizations to establish and uphold benchmarks of excellence across Florida’s charter schools.
