Fuji Hiro
Traditional Japanese Food. Since 1997. Re-Opening June 2025
About Fuji Hiro
Founded in 1997, Fuji Hiro holds the title of being Leeds’ first Japanese restaurant, introducing the city to authentic ramen, traditional noodle dishes, and the vibrant flavours of Japan long before it was mainstream. Tucked away beside the Merrion Centre, Fuji Hiro quickly became a cult favourite, loved for its warm, no-frills atmosphere, generous portions, and deeply authentic cooking. For nearly three decades, it served as a hidden gem for students, workers, and food lovers seeking an authentic Japanese experience. As of May 2025, the restaurant enters a new chapter under the leadership of renowned local restaurateur James Douglas, who brings a refreshed energy while staying true to the original spirit that made Fuji Hiro iconic. Expect classic dishes, bold new flavours, and the same welcoming charm, revived for a new generation.
