The criteria is recognised by Global Sustainable Tourism Council GSTC. Establishments awarded with the Green Key certification meet a set of high standard environmental requirements e.g. efficient use of water and energy, recycling and raising environmental awareness among staff, guests and partners. A Green Key stands for the promise to its guests that by opting to stay with the Green Key establishment, they are helping to make a difference on an environmental and social level. Green Key is awarded today to more than 3700 hotels and other establishments in more than 60 countries. The iconic Blue Flag is one of the world’s most recognised voluntary awards for beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators. In order to qualify for the Blue Flag, a series of stringent environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility criteria must be met and maintained. There are more than 5000 Blue Flag sites in 50 countries all over the world.
