About Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois SA
With nearly 350 years of history, Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois is considered one of Europe’s most iconic city hotels. Originally founded in 1681 as a gentlemen’s inn and rebuilt in 1844 as a grand hotel, it has welcomed kings, poets and artists from around the world throughout the centuries. Nestled in the heart of Basel’s Old Town directly on the banks of the Rhine, the hotel combines historic charm, genuine hospitality and timeless elegance. Following a two-year transformation, Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois celebrated the reopening of its historic head building in summer 2025, newly reimagined by Herzog & de Meuron. The renowned Basel-based architects masterfully blended heritage with contemporary design, creating spaces filled with light, character and atmosphere. The redesign introduced elegant rooms and suites, Seijaku – a Japanese-inspired wellbeing retreat – as well as versatile event spaces. Also newly opened is Banks, Basel’s latest culinary hotspot, offering European-Asian cuisine with a creative sharing concept. The hotel’s culinary experiences are as diverse as its spaces. At Cheval Blanc by Peter Knogl, awarded 3 Michelin stars and 19 GaultMillau points, guests enjoy world-class haute cuisine. The Brasserie Les Trois Rois reinterprets Swiss and French classics with charm and finesse, Banks brings a vibrant social dining experience to the city, while Bar Les Trois Rois serves award-winning cocktails alongside what may well be Basel’s most beautiful view over the Rhine.
