About Iowa State University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
We are the Iowa State University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECpE), where the world's first electronic digital computer was invented. Since 1909, our alumni have led the development of some of the most renowned modern-era technologies, including the cable modem, portable phone, iPod Nano, handheld scientific calculator, medical ultrasound technology, and 3D graphics machines. These contributions have impacted diverse areas of humanity, such as music, healthcare, cyber security, defense, electric power, and sustainable energy. Electrical, computer, software and cyber security engineers are tinkerers, creators, and magic makers who enact change. At Iowa State ECpE, we are the spark, the energy, and the bright minds who bring together people and technologies to connect the world. In fact, advances in ECpE define the future of our society. We help students on their adventure to be passionate, be creative, be greater than they imagine, and work to change the world. ECpE: The future is what we do.
