About Jake Collective

The Jake Collective was founded to address a critical gap in how we understand and support young people who think, learn, and process differently. Advances in neuroscience and psychology suggest that for young people with complex intelligence and certain neurocognitive traits, experiences such as puberty, the transition to college and adulthood, rejection, or heartbreak can trigger rapid, impulsive responses with devastating consequences. We work to support and protect these young, brilliant, and complex minds by bridging research, capital, and policy. Through grantmaking via the Jake Foundation, we fund research that helps us better serve and understand this group of young people and their neurodivergent brain development. As impact investors, we address underinvestment in mental health startups and innovation. And through policy engagement, we support legislative efforts to create policy change and help translate scientific insight into protections and interventions that can be deployed where young people live, learn, and create. The Jake Collective honors the life of Jake Schreiber, a student at Brown University, an aspiring physicist with a passion for astronomy, and a gifted electronic music composer, who died by suicide at the age of 19. Guided by his curiosity and brilliance, we are committed to bringing clarity, care, and action to moments when young lives are most at risk.
