Matt Lapp, our founder and CEO, grew up Amish and started in the trades young—learning the value of hands-on experience, consistency, and doing what’s right, not just what’s easy. What began as a one-man operation quickly grew, not because Matt set out to build a business, but because people kept calling for help—and he couldn’t say no. Over time, it became clear this wasn’t just a business. It was a calling: to serve people well, create opportunities for others, and do work that makes a lasting impact. From the start, Matt’s principle has shaped JM Lapp: when you take care of the small things with excellence, the big things take care of themselves. Today, our team continues to grow, but our approach stays the same: treat people with respect, show up prepared, do excellent work, and leave things better than we found them. Once an abandoned building, the New Holland Silk Mill has been fully restored—now home to local businesses and community gatherings, and a symbol of renewal.
