The Julian Bond Institute for Financial Equity Research (JBI) turns data into justice. We are a research organization investigating the structural forces that drive racial and economic inequality in American financial markets. Our research follows inequality across the financial marketplace — and always centers the communities it harms most. Named for civil rights icon Julian Bond, we carry forward his conviction that freedom without economic equity is unfinished work. We don't study inequality from a distance—we start with the people living it—partnering with communities to ensure that their experiences and aspirations shape our research questions, our findings, and our vision for change. The result: rigorous, community-grounded evidence that helps policymakers, funders, practitioners, and advocates understand what a truly inclusive financial market looks like and what it will take to build one.
