Not ATS, the number of pages in your resume, and certainly not the fonts or colors you're using. In fact, what everyone is buying about ATS automatically filtering your resume is a scare marketing tactic that's being used as propaganda. My clients get interviews and jobs without ANY ATS hacks. It's common for people to tell me, "I'm applying to jobs I'm perfectly qualified for -- I don't understand why I'm not getting interviews." When I look at the resume, I can see that the person is applying to director-level jobs with an entry-level resume, using too much military jargon, or relying on strategies. Here's what you don't realize. What you're picking up from random “internet experts” is 20+ years out of date, and even the best online tips don’t tell you HOW, for instance, to determine the right keywords for your resume. It's all too easy to point the finger at ATS; the true problem is that resume you wrote yourself or spent as little as possible on.
