Kerecis was founded by Fertram Sigurjonsson on a simple but unconventional idea: that fish skin can support how the body heals. Today, the company has defined the role of fish‑skin technology in regenerative medicine. By preserving the skin’s natural structure through proprietary processing, it provides a scaffold that supports tissue regeneration. With virtually no risk of viral disease transfer, it is a biologically compatible solution grounded in nature and refined through science. Kerecis products are used to regenerate tissue in a variety of acute, chronic, and surgical applications. Kerecis is also developing products for areas such as oral surgery, plastic surgery and neurological applications. Kerecis is built around a simple but ambitious vision: to extend human life by enabling the body to regenerate itself. Its mission is to lead the way in tissue repair by sustainably harnessing nature’s own solutions. In August 2023, Kerecis reached a major milestone, becoming Iceland’s first unicorn and joining the Coloplast Group for $1.3 billion.
