About La Jolla Institute for Immunology
La Jolla Institute for Immunology (LJI) Our breakthroughs in immunology make life without disease possible. We are a non-profit medical research institute dedicated to increasing knowledge and improving human health through studies of the immune system. We solely focus on the immune system because it holds the power to prevent, treat, and ultimately eliminate disease, extending healthy human life. At LJI, we accelerate lifesaving discoveries by combining a uniquely agile research environment with cutting-edge technology—empowering our world-class scientists to aim higher and move faster. What is immunology? Immunology is a broad branch of biomedical science that covers the study of all aspects of the immune response. Harnessing the immune system defeated polio. At LJI, we’re wielding that same power with greater precision so that cancer, autoimmune, infectious, and neurodegenerative diseases are no longer inevitable, but simply gone. Where is LJI? Founded in 1988, La Jolla Institute is located in the University of California San Diego's Science Research Park in a world-class facility covering 145,000 square feet. Our space provides an open laboratory setting that encourages LJI's highly collaborative research environment.
