About Low Carbon Contracts Company
We act as the private law counterparty to the Contracts for Difference (CfD), agreeing long‑term contracts with renewable electricity generators that guarantee a fixed price for the electricity they produce. Our sister company, Electricity Settlements Company (ESC), manages payments and assurances for the Capacity Market. Our remit has expanded. We now act as the counterparty to Low Carbon Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Usage and Storage (CCUS), and nuclear through the Regulated Asset Base (RAB) model. Our newer schemes support energy security and net zero beyond electricity generation, we also provide expert technical, commercial and operational advice to government.
