Martinez Refining Company (MRC) – leading the way in Martinez. As the first continuously running refinery in the United States, Martinez is considered the “birthplace of the modern refining process”. The Martinez refinery was built in 1915, when horse-drawn carriages outnumbered motor-driven “horseless carriages.” In 2020, Martinez became part of the PBF Energy Family of Refineries. MRC has 560 employees and 250 contract partners. We invest in our team members, our facility and surrounding community, and carry on the refinery’s tradition of being an active and dedicated neighbor. The Martinez Refining Company refines gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. We create the clean fuels that sustain the quality of life for our family and community.
