About Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, Inc.

For 65 years, Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland has helped older adults; people living with disabilities and other homebound neighbors live safely, independently and with dignity in the homes and communities they know. Each day, our employees and volunteers prepare and deliver approximately 5,000 nutritious meals to roughly 2,500 clients across Central Maryland—more than 1.4 million meals each year. But we are much more than a meal-delivery organization. Every delivery provides nutritious food, meaningful human connection, a safety and wellness check and peace of mind for clients and their families. Through grocery assistance, friendly telephone connections, care coordination and other supportive programs, we help address food insecurity, social isolation and the challenges that can make remaining safely at home more difficult. Behind this work is a substantial Central Maryland operation: a professional production kitchen and nutrition team, approximately 50 drivers, a fleet of nearly 40 vehicles, experienced program professionals and a broad network of dedicated volunteers and community partners. MOWCM also works with employers, healthcare organizations, foundations, government agencies, elected leaders and community organizations to strengthen the systems that support healthy aging, independence and home- and community-based care. Through education, advocacy, and government relations, we help elevate the needs and voices of the people and communities we serve. Through Recipe for the Future—our major capital campaign and new facility initiative—we are building the capacity, infrastructure and resilience needed to meet Central Maryland’s growing needs for decades to come.
