About Microsystems Exploratory Council (MEC)

The Microsystems Exploratory Council (MEC) is a study group that conducts forward-looking research to illuminate emerging opportunities in microsystems technologies with potential national security impact and provides members’ individual perspectives to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Comprising leading scientists, researchers, and engineers from academia and industry, the MEC explores novel scientific frontiers and disruptive concepts beyond the scope of current DARPA programs. By conducting independent pathfinding studies, the MEC members help DARPA’s Microsystems Technology Office (MTO) identify potential future research areas. The Microsystems Exploratory Council does not speak on behalf of DoD or DARPA.
