About Move For Hunger
Move For Hunger is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit fighting food insecurity and food waste by mobilizing transportation, relocation, multifamily, logistics, and corporate networks to deliver surplus food to communities in need. Founded in 2009, Move For Hunger began by partnering with professional moving companies to rescue unopened, non-perishable food from people who were moving and deliver it to local food banks. Today, that work has grown into a national movement across the U.S. and Canada. Through programs including move-day food donations, food recovery, a growing freight & logistics network, food drives, employee engagement events, fresh food transportation, and cold storage support, Move For Hunger helps connect surplus food with people facing hunger. Since its founding, Move For Hunger has helped transport more than 84 million pounds of food (the equivalent of more than 70 million meals) to food banks and pantries across North America. Together with our partners, we’re building a more efficient, sustainable, and compassionate food system — one where good food reaches people, not landfills.
