Cryo-EM for Drug Discovery. Gene-to-Structure, Structural Biology, Nanoparticle Characterization on Glacios & Krios.
About NanoImaging Services
Visualizing biomolecular structures through cryo-EM studies can provide insight into multiple stages of the drug development process, from target identification through formulation and manufacturing. NanoImaging Services (NIS) is the industry leader with the longest history in cryo-EM, with more cryo-EM scientists and TEM microscopes than any provider in North America. In January 2025, NIS acquired Proteos, a leading protein production CRO based in Kalamazoo, MI, expanding our capabilities to offer complete gene-to-structure workflows and standalone recombinant protein production services. NIS is focused on: Structural Biology: High-resolution data collection and single-particle analysis for structure-based drug design. Average sample-to-structure in under 4 weeks! Protein Production: Full-service recombinant protein expression and purification using bacterial, insect, and mammalian cell systems (E. coli, baculovirus, CHO, HEK293). From gene synthesis to purified protein delivery. Gene-to-Structure: Seamless integration of protein production and cryo-EM structure determination, eliminating handoffs and accelerating timelines for drug discovery programs. Nanoparticle Characterization: Complete morphology assessment to inform size, shape, uniformity, purity, and cargo encapsulation, with quantitative analysis. R&D and GMP-compliant services available. By utilizing state-of-the-art technology and deep expertise across both cryo-EM imaging and protein production, NIS makes structural biology accessible to companies of all sizes across the drug discovery pipeline and accelerates the development of new and life-changing therapeutics.
