About National Armaments Director Group
The National Armaments Director (NAD) Group is part of the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). Led by the National Armaments Director, Andy Start, the NAD Group unites the Ministry of Defence organisations responsible for developing, delivering, sustaining, housing and harbouring the UK’s national arsenal and defence estate. From innovative concept to front-line deployment and support, the Group is committed to delivering life-saving, battle-winning capabilities. Together, we will deliver what our armed forces need, helping to ensure the UK is safe at home and strong abroad. Who’s in the NAD Group? The NAD Group, which was established in March 2025, is still being designed. At initial operation it includes five enabling organisations and four newly established areas: - Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) - Defence Support - Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) - Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) - Defence Digital (DD) - International Collaboration & Exports (ICE) - Commercial & Industry (C&I) - Options & Commissioning (O&C) - Corporate & Shared Services
