About National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems (NCPERS)
Since 1941, NCPERS has partnered with pension leaders across local, county, and state retirement systems to strengthen funds and protect the retirement security of more than 20 million public servants—including teachers, police officers, firefighters, and municipal workers. Headquartered in Washington, DC, NCPERS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit representing a diverse membership of more than 650 public sector retirement systems, plan sponsors, unions, and service providers who collectively manage approximately $6 trillion in retirement assets. Our Mission: To connect and empower public pension leaders—across sectors and states—with the skills, strategies, and networks to solve today’s challenges and prepare for tomorrow’s. Our Vision: A world where public service brings peace of mind with the promise of retirement security. What We Do: NCPERS delivers industry-leading education and fiduciary training through 11 annual in-person conferences, summits, and year-round webinars. We advocate for public pensions at the state and federal levels, convene professionals for peer-driven collaboration, and produce trusted research, insights, and publications that inform decision-making across the industry. Through tools, operational resources, affinity programs, and strategic partnerships, we help pension leaders operate more effectively and confidently. From local plans to statewide systems, NCPERS is where pension professionals come together to share real-world solutions, lead with confidence, and protect the promises made to those who serve.
