National Emergency Briefing
A filmed briefing on the climate-nature crisis to politicians, and leaders across business, culture & faith
About National Emergency Briefing
The UK's top experts to mount an official briefing of MPs and decision makers on the latest science to galvanise government action on the climate and nature crisis. Under the international Paris Agreement the UK Government committed to inform politicians and the public about the climate risks. That has not yet happened. So civil society stepped up to stage a non-political National Emergency Briefing for an invite-only audience of 850 MPs, Peers, journalists and leaders from business, culture and faith. Chaired by Prof Mike Berners-Lee, nine of the UK’s leading experts provided a high-level summary of the latest threats and solutions across all aspects of the interconnected climate and nature crisis. The essential information in a single sitting of just over an hour, plus press questions. A 50 minute film, with footage from the event, and reactions from ordinary people is now being shown around the country, designed to be watched together - with the local MP.
