Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division is an organization within Naval Air Systems Command dedicated to maintaining a center of excellence in weapons development for the Department of the Navy. NAWCWD primarily operates in two Southern California locations: China Lake and Point Mugu. China Lake NAWCWD operates more than 1.1 million acres of land ranges and multiple weapons development laboratories for the Department of the Navy at Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, located 150 miles north of Los Angeles. Point Mugu NAWCWD serves as the Department of the Navy's Electronic Warfare Technical Center. We operate the Point Mugu Sea Range, which includes 36,000 square miles of instrumented sea and air space and encompasses San Nicolas Island. Naval Base Ventura County Point Mugu is located approximately 60 miles west of Los Angeles.
