Independent biotech consultant providing strategic, scientific, and technical leadership to biotechnology companies developing RNA and other advanced therapeutic platforms. Over 25 years of experience spanning discovery research, translational science, preclinical development, platform strategy, and R&D leadership across biotech, pharma, and venture-backed start-ups in the UK and Europe. Experience includes leadership and advisory roles supporting the development of mRNA therapeutics, nucleic acid delivery technologies, immunology and inflammation programmes, microbiome therapeutics, regenerative medicine approaches, and other innovative therapeutic modalities. Particular areas of focus include RNA therapeutic strategy, platform and pipeline expansion, translational planning, target and indication assessment, preclinical development strategy, and cross-functional R&D leadership. Provides flexible support ranging from technical and scientific advisory work through to fractional executive leadership, including CSO and CTO-level engagements. Experienced in working with early-stage and growth-stage companies on programme prioritisation, investor and partner interactions, external collaboration management, CDMO engagement, and development planning. Selected engagements include: • Former fractional CTO and current Technical Advisor to Athernal Bio. • Technical Advisor to ErVimmune supporting mRNA construct design, LNP strategy, CDMO management, and regulatory planning. • Strategic, scientific, and translational due diligence for nucleic acid therapeutics programmes supporting investment and advisory organisations. Previous leadership roles include CSO and senior R&D positions within biotechnology companies and global pharmaceutical organisations including Pfizer. DPhil from the University of Oxford.
