Open Property Data Association
The UK's trade body for companies transforming homebuying and enabling safe, secure, and trustable smart property data
About Open Property Data Association
The UK’s property data has always been held across a multitude of government departments, local authorities, and private institutions without a common structure, format or trust framework to enable safe and secure access and sharing. We're solving this through collaboration on smart data, technology and trust standards and by driving industry adoption of digitisation. Until recently, we didn’t have a clear roadmap or a published mandate to build the smart property data trust framework with a common set of data and technology standards that we all work to. Now we do! MHCLG published the home buying and selling reform roadmap on 19th June 2026 setting out a clear statement of the transformation that will be delivered and when, including a commitment to secondary legislation and mandation by 2029. https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/home-buying-and-selling-reform/outcome/home-buying-and-selling-reform-roadmap OPDA sits on the Smart Data Council chaired by the Dept Business & Trade to ensure ecosystem alignment across smart data schemes and to drive the delivery of Smart Property Data as a scheme by 2030. We chair the Digital Property Market Steering Group trust and interoperability workstream to lead the collaboration and to create the Smart Property Data Trust Framework data and governance standards set out in the MHCLG roadmap which support an open property data infrastructure. Our members are the first industry firms to create and contribute to the standards that are the foundations of the Smart Property Data Trust Framework and to adopt those standards in their own software solutions. We all commit to promoting smart property data and to delivering a shared trust framework across government and industry. The standards created by us, and accredited by our members, is published in a schema which is open source and free to use for everyone. You can find our data and technical standards here: https://github.com/Property-Data-Trust-Framework
