220 acres of lakeside hospitality, managed woodland and farmland on the shores of Ullswater.
About The Patterdale Estate
The Patterdale Estate: Rooted in the landscape. On the southern tip of Ullswater: The Patterdale Estate covers 220 acres of historic Lakeland - a mix of quiet woodland, working farmland, and shoreline. Since 1959, we have been a place for people to arrive, settle in, and reconnect with the slower pace of the Lakes. Hospitality with a sense of place: We manage a diverse collection of 15 self-catering properties, ranging from our stone-built bothies and cedar chalets to premium lakeside lodges. Whether it’s the sound of the beck in "Waterfall Wood" or the view across the fields from Lishman House, our accommodation is designed to be a thoughtful base for exploring the fells. Managed with care: The Estate is more than just a destination. It is a working landscape comprising managed forestry and tenant farming. We believe in looking after this corner of the Lake District with a quiet confidence, ensuring the land remains as vibrant as the community it supports. A stay with hidden depth: While we lead with the experience of the Lakes, Patterdale is a business with a purpose. As a subsidiary of YMCA North Tyneside, the proceeds from the Estate are used to fund life-changing work - from youth mental health support to providing homes for those in need. When you stay with us, you aren't just visiting the Lakes; you’re helping a young person thrive.
